Transition to Clean Energy - Electric Vehicle Charging; Solar Energy
It is now almost universally accepted that the world has to stop using carbon intensive fossil fuels, with lots of legislation – both global and local – starting to come into place.
What is “fossil fuel” and why is it so bad for our planet?
In a nutshell “fossil fuel” as its name suggests comes from the “fossils” that are the energy rich, by-products of the earths’ very own solar powered natural processes. Over thousands of years the cycle of growth of plants, trees and forests produced decomposed matter, which was compressed under the earth and became coal; the algae and plankton following the same process in our Seas became oil and gas.
Over the last century, with the advent of “industrial revolution “ and the dramatic increase
in population, we have retrieved these fossil fuels and burnt them to provide energy – releasing thousands of years’ worth of carbon back into the atmosphere. We have witnessed the destruction of forests, rainforests, woodlands, wetlands and grasslands – all of which were the natural habitat of countless species.
This loss of biodiversity has been proven to be one of the root causes of the increase in greenhouse gas emissions. How? The carbon locked away by nature
(for hundreds if not thousands of years) within these trees and plants and the soil they are grown in has been released when they were destroyed. Added to this, without the trees to absorb the carbon in the atmosphere created by our lifestyles and use of fossil fuels we are now out of balance and the dangerous cycle continues to escalate.
However, with a population that continues to accelerate the need to provide sustainable energy sources is critical. Time is rapidly running out in the race to redress the balance – we have less than a decade to make the transition to Clean energy or face a continuing increase in the temperature of the earth and the associated escalating disasters culminating in the end of life as we know it – within the life time of our children.
Renewable Solutions
At Green Circle Direct we believe through embracing collaboration, honesty and balance we can support businesses evolve and thrive within the human wellbeing sector.
There are practical alternatives to fossil fuels and the global energy sector is now able to generate, store and distribute energy generated from the Sun, the wind, the tides and from the natural heat of the earth.
The “revolution” has begun and across the globe there are many great examples of pioneering “renewable” solutions, which are sustainably generating energy whilst at the same time reducing and in some cases reversing the negative impacts on the environment. These include solar power systems and wind turbines.
In the UK the move to stopping the production of fossil fuel powered vehicles by 2030 goes some way to achieving the Clean energy transition. We are delighted to partner with a network of leading suppliers and engineers of some of the most innovative renewable solutions in the UK and provide a portal for you to plan and implement your Clean Energy transition strategy.
Sir David Attenborough is convinced we can still turn this critical condition of our planet around and here at Green Circle Direct we endeavour to be the portal to the UK to access these innovations.
